2024 West Virginia Infectious Disease and Immunization Summit

June 13 - June 14

Where: Summersville Arena & Conference Center 

The Annual West Virginia Infectious Disease and Immunization Summit is scheduled for June 13 and June 14, 2024, at the Summersville Arena and Conference Center, in Summersville, West Virginia. The June 13th track for this two-day conference is being held in partnership with the West Virginia Office of Epidemiology and Prevention Services. Participants will be introduced to the steps for investigating an infection control breach and conducting a patient notification. Sessions will include interactive activities and utilize documents including those necessary for completing an infection control assessment, reviewing laboratory results, and setting up a vaccination clinic. There will also be a special antibiotic stewardship spotlight.  The Immunization Summit will be an action-oriented event targeted toward a wide variety of both public and private organizations. This year, the Summit will feature 3 national presenters in addition to state and local experts. Lunch will be provided both days as well as morning and afternoon refreshments.

Target Audience

Various sessions at the Summit will be targeted toward healthcare and public health professionals, school nurses and administrators, business leaders, consumers, and others interested in protecting West Virginians from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Registration for the event is now open.  Click here to registerOnline registration will close June 5, 2024. On-site registration will be accepted unless arena capacity has been met. 

Registration Fees:
* If registration numbers meet the capacity of the Summersville Conference Center, registration will close early, and no on-site registrations will be accepted. You are encouraged to register early, as we did meet capacity in 2023.

Attendees who are unable to attend both days may register for June 13 or June 14 individually. A discount is available for bundle registrations for participants planning to attend both days. 

Registration Rates: 

  • June 13th only: $75 (includes light breakfast and lunch)
  • June 14th only: $85 (includes light breakfast and lunch)
  • June 13th and June 14th: $150 (includes light breakfast and lunch both days)
  • Student Rates $40 per day (includes light breakfast and lunch)
  • On-Site Registration: June 13th: $120 or June 14th: $140

A room block is being held at:

Continuing Education

An application for continuing education has been approved for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses for this event.  Participants who attend June 13th and complete each session evaluation are eligible to receive 5.75 hours of continuing education.  Participants who attend June 14th and complete each session evaluation are eligible for 5 hours of continuing education.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Center for Rural Health Development and CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine. CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians-.  The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 hours for AMA PRA Category I Credit(s)Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This offering has been approved for 5 contact hours (JA0026-26-24-633)

Pharmacy – The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  To receive credit, participants must complete the sign-in sheet, attend each session and complete an evaluation. ACPE credits will be posted online to the CPE Monitor within six (6) weeks following the activity. This knowledge- based activity provides 5 contact hours (JA0006133-9999-24-041-L06-P)
